The Alliance for Human Development (AHD) Focuses on Strengthening Research and Partnerships for Global Early Childhood Health, Growth, Learning and Development

Housed in the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI), AHD combines academic strength with a commitment to evidence-based research, training and advocacy for early childhood development. AHD harnesses the expertise of a multidisciplinary team to develop, evaluate and implement innovative solutions for childhood development through parenting, educational support, and health and nutrition programs.

Our Mission

To generate new knowledge on the science behind human development, to develop effective interventions to improve maternal and child outcomes, and to shape the national and global policy agenda in early childhood development.

  • Evaluating practical, on-the-ground, ECD-related interventions and disseminating lessons learned;

  • Assisting development agencies, governments, donors and foundations to strengthen the programmatic impact of ECD activities;

  • Training future generations of research experts and building capacity of developing country institutions, including developing and promoting tools and resources for the measurement and monitoring of ECD programming;

  • Identifying and promoting innovative approaches and partnerships that address ECD-related challenges;

  • Promoting awareness of the public health, education, equity, social and economic benefits of advancing activities to address early childhood development.
